How to measure

Measure over your underwear with a soft tape, and have somebody else hold it if there is anybody about. Each one opens with a diagram of where the tape sits.

Nothing here is a standard size. Send these measurements on WhatsApp, or book a fitting at the atelier and we will take them for you, and your piece is cut to them.

  • Where the tape sits for the bust

    Around the fullest part of the bust, with the tape level all the way round and one finger of room under it.

  • Where the tape sits for the natural waist

    Around the narrowest part of the waist, usually just above the navel. Breathe out, and keep the tape snug rather than tight.

  • Where the tape sits for the hip

    Around the fullest part of the hip, roughly 20 centimetres below the natural waist, standing with your feet together.

  • Where the tape sits for the shoulder

    Straight across the back, from the tip of one shoulder to the tip of the other, following the line the seam will sit on.

  • Where the tape sits for the sleeve length

    From the tip of the shoulder to where you want the sleeve to end, with your arm relaxed at your side.

  • Where the tape sits for the full length

    From the top of the shoulder, over the bust, down to where you want the hem to finish. Wear the shoes you plan to wear.

A commission is confirmed with a deposit. The balance is settled before your piece is dispatched, and the atelier arranges it with you directly.

Size guide

Delivery and returns

Pleats are set by hand and pressed in, and the whole question with them is whether they are still there at the end of the night. These are set deep enough to survive a car, a dinner and a dance floor.

The waist is finished with a plain band so the eye goes to the pleating rather than to a seam competing with it.

Made to order in six weeks. The hem is set at the fitting, because a pleated skirt shortened afterwards loses the line at the bottom.
